Currently under development are a long-acting fertilizer for conifer seedlings and a young stand protection product against browsing damage caused by ungulates.
Long-acting fertilizer for pine (Pinus sylvestris) and spruce (Picea abies) seedlings ensures a steady supply of nutrients during their most intensive growth phases in the first 2–3 years after planting. During this period, seedlings do not yet have a sufficiently developed root system to effectively utilize soil resources; therefore, gradually soluble mineral fertilizers help to:
- provide a consistent availability of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, avoiding leaching and overdosing;
- promote faster root system establishment and needle mass growth;
- increase seedling resilience to moisture deficits and competition with weeds;
- reduce the need for frequent additional fertilization, lowering labor costs.
