Technology for Providing Additional Nutrients to Effectively Improve the Juvenile Growth of Selected Conifer Trees

Information prepared: 01.04.2025

SIA Jifteco, in cooperation with the Forest Industry Competence Centre, within the research direction “Increasing productivity through expanding the volume of R&D investments” of the agreement No. 5.1.1.2.i.0/2/24/A/CFLA/001 signed with CFLA, is implementing the research project JP10 “Technology for Providing Additional Nutrients to Effectively Improve the Juvenile Growth of Selected Conifer Trees”.

The aim of the project is to create a new technology for supplying additional nutrients to improve the early growth of selected conifer species.
The main activities of the project are:

  • Modelling the fertilizer composition under laboratory conditions;
  • Modelling the fertilizer coating under laboratory conditions;
  • Establishing the experiment in an appropriate environment;
  • Testing the fertilizer coating;
  • Monitoring the experiment, analysing results, and drawing conclusions.

The planned final outcome of the project is an organic fertilizer technology for conifer seedlings that provides additional nutrients during the first two years of growth, developed using local resources.
The project is planned as an interdisciplinary initiative involving forest science specialists, companies from the chemical production sector, and the animal feed production sector.

The project is scheduled for 19 months (01.04.2025–31.10.2026.) and has a total planned budget of EUR 275,700.00, including EUR 203,820.00 of co-financing from the European Union Recovery Fund.
