3rd quarter of the project "Technology for Providing Additional Nutrients to Effectively Improve the Juvenile Growth of Selected Conifer Trees"

SIA Jifteco, in cooperation with the Forest Industry Competence Centre, within the research direction “Increasing productivity through raising the volume of R&D investments” of the agreement No. 5.1.1.2.i.0/2/24/A/CFLA/001 signed with CFLA, is implementing the research project JP10 “Technology for Providing Additional Nutrients to Effectively Improve the Juvenile Growth of Selected Conifer Trees”.

In the third implementation quarter of the project, the following activities were carried out:

Activity 2 – Modeling of fertilizer coating in the laboratory.
Description: During the reporting period, laboratory modeling of fertilizer coating was conducted, and five types of coating complementary to fertilizers were developed to potentially prolong fertilizer decomposition.

Activity 3 – Establishment of the experiment.
Description: During the reporting period, work on developing the experimental methodology was completed, and experiments were established in a greenhouse to analyze the release activity of organic fertilizer under different coatings.

Activity 4 – Testing of fertilizer coating.
Description: During the reporting period, experiments are being carried out to observe the decomposition of coated fertilizer granules (in water and in a climate chamber). In subsequent stages, samples will be taken from control plots and laboratory measurements will be performed to assess changes in the coating.

The project is planned to run for 19 months (01.04.2025–31.10.2026) and will consist of the following activities: laboratory modelling of fertilizer composition, laboratory modelling of fertilizer coating, establishment of the experiment, testing of fertilizer coating, modelling of improved fertilizer and coating formulations, ensuring the fertilizer granulation process, improved experiment setup (season 2), testing of fertilizer coating (season 2), performance of measurements and preparation of the report.

The total planned budget is EUR 275,700.00, including EUR 203,820.00 of co-financing from the European Union Recovery Fund.
